Despite being on the other side of the world, in a country where Christmas is not even a festival, I received my first Christmas presents through the post last week. Thank you very much Nain! It will be nice to have something to open up on the 25th, even though I have an exam on that day!

I was delighted to receive a parcel from home today FULL of some real Cadbury’s dairy milk chocolate. Whilst you can buy chocolate in China, even the big brands such as 吉百利 (Chinese Cadburys) and 德芙 (Galaxy) simply aren’t up to scratch. The chinese use a lot of cocoa supplement in their chocolate (its a lot cheaper to do this) but it ends up having a really soapy texture and doesn’t come near the richness and creaminess of real British Cadbury’s chocolate.
Thank you Mum and Dad! I will be thinking of you when munching this down!
Beijing is getting colder and colder, its often getting close to minus 10 at night and starting to drop below zero during the daytime too now. I decided that wearing about 5 layers of clothing and still freezing cold at the bus stop was unacceptable and so (thanks to a christmas advance from mum + dad) purchased myself a lovely and snug North Face down jacket to keep me warm. The great thing is is that they are also a lot cheaper over here (and this one is not a fake!).
Should have no problems at all now! Thank you mum and dad! Its toasting!
